Losing a business but finding Jesus
The present economic crisis caused a fellow business woman to go bankrupt. She had to sell everything to pay her debts. Knowing how difficult it is for women in this country, especially in business, I said I would help her in any way I could.
I offered to store her machines till she could find buyers and at least save her from paying rent on her building. It was raining and we sat in her car where she cried and told me I was the only person willing to help her. I explained that her problems were too big for her and me to handle and that she needed the Lord.
That rainy day was the first of several in which the Holy Spirit used me to share with her the hope of Jesus. In early April, in a corner of my shop she accepted Christ with tears and confession. Afterwards, we read Romans 8: 8-15 and she drank in the words. I have never seen evidence of the veil being lifted as I did at that moment. Her face seemed to shine with complete understanding.
A week later she came to the shop noticeably different. She had shared her new faith with her mother and daughter and said she prays every day and knows God is with her. She asked me to disciple her so we agreed to meet every Tuesday at 9 am to study together. The very next day the story of my shop was featured in a national newspaper. This good publicity brought record sales. Some would call this a coincidence. I believe this was God’s blessing for being faithful to his calling. |
